Northern Vietnam is a popular trekking destination. To reach most of the popular destinations an overnight bus or train is often the only choice. However due to the rise in tourism over the past year a major motorway has been built allowing the journeys to significantly reduce in time.
From the early days a bus to Sapa would take atleast 10-11 hours. But we decided to test out the new route, leaving a Hanoi at 7.30 am and arriving 5 hours later in the ‘hill station’ called Sapa.
The bus is similar to any overnight bus in Vietnam (even though yge journey was 5 hours). There is plenty of room, unless you get the short straw and have to sit at the back of the bus.
