Wat Tramit is slightly away from the main stretch of attractions, really at the edge of Chinatown-so a good idea to visit when in the area. Like all Wat’s you need to be covered, and this time they aren’t giving away free skirts and scarfs to try on.
When in Bangkok, if want to see a ‘golden Buddha’, Wat Traimit is the place to go. At the top of the 4 floors of stairs a 3m. 5.5 tonne, solid gold Buddha can be found. Shined to the inch…so sparkles like no tomorrow! The temple itself is made from marble and was built around the early 13th C, since then it has been maintained by donations and a small entrance fee of 40B/ person.
