With so many farms dotted around the Hamptons, it’s not surprising that the idea of ‘pick-your-own’ is quiet common. When I found out about this, I couldn’t wait to find a farm and have a go. But, unfortunately most of them close during the summer to help the fruit grow, so for most of the summer the thought of having a chance to do this went out of my mind.
However fortunately the other day I found this farm just off the main road running into Southampton, which was open all summer. A great activity for my day off!
Here you could pick a range of seasonal fruit, vegetables and flowers. At this time of year, apples are coming into season whilst the summer berries are just finishing.
So once inside, all you needed was a trailer and some cartoons and you were off!
Even pumpkins were being grown for Halloween
But if picking your own fruit wasn’t what you wanted to do…especially in the heat, you could pick up a punnet of fruit or vegetable in the shop.
