Montauk (take 2) and Hither Hills state park

A day off and the sun shining means one thing…off to the beach! With Montauk being the top of the beach lists in the Hamptons it had to be the only option. A couple of months ago I visited Montauk, but this time it was very different- peak season and sun so everyone was out!

But not to put me off from setting myself down to enjoy a few hours of sun bathing, and good ice cream from Buddha berry and a little stroll around the shops.

Just surrounding Montauk is Hither hills. A large state park with walking trails between woodlands and the infamous walking dunes. There is also a beach for camping and surfing- but I didn’t get to that. As unlike Mashomack preserve, I didn’t find the guided trails, so using my best “geographical” skills I just went wandering for a bit before I got lost! The area which I found was so peaceful, away from the crowds at Montauk and the highway.
